On February 13, 2015, undergraduate sociology major, David Kleitsch, presented his research titled, "Existence of Sense of Virtual Community within the LGBT YouTube Community" at the 2015 annual conference for the North Carolina Sociological Association. David conducted this research during Dr. Ed Rosenberg's Senior Seminar course last Fall, where David collected original data through observing YouTube videos and viewers' comments. Results suggested a general support of LGBT content by viewers and a developing sense of a virtual community for LGBT participants. Dr. Rosenberg encouraged David to submit his paper for consideration for the NCSA conference and it was one of four great paper presentations in a session dedicated to understanding community and LGBTQ populations. Congrats on a job well done!
