Dr. Beth Davison and Jessica Eatman (a 2013 graduate of the Sociology Department), recently published a research article analyzing voting trends regarding North Carolina's Amendment One that officially banned same sex marriages in the state. The paper examined the large variance, regarding the amendment vote, among North Carolina's 100 counties. They found community context matters in explaining overall county trends in voting.
