Got Gen Ed??: Sociology offers 9 Courses in Gen Ed 2.0

This coming Fall General Education will look a whole lot different than in the last five years. General Education 2.0 begins with great choices in various areas of integrative learning and liberal studies experience. The Department of Sociology is proud to announce that it has agreed to offer 9 different courses across the General Education curriculum to help students meet their course requirements and grasp the learning goals of: thining critically and creatively, communicating effectively, making local to global connections, and understanding responsibilities of community membership. Below is a list of those courses and how they correspond to General Education requirements:

SOC 1000: The Sociological Perspective (Meets Liberal Studies Experience and Social Science Designation Requirements).

SOC 1100: Social Problems in American Society (Meets Integrative Learning Experience Theme, "Revolutions: Social and Political" and Social Science Designation Requirements).

 SOC 1110: Sociology of Intimate Relationships (Meets Integrative Learning Experience Theme, "Social Relations Across Contexts" and Social Science Designation Requirements).

SOC 2020: Social Deviance (Meets Liberal Studies Experience and Social Science Designation Requirements).

SOC 2050: Social Inequality and Diversity (Meets Integrative Learning Experience Theme, "Intersections" and Social Science Designation Requirements).

SOC 2850: Constructions of Gender (Meets Liberal Studies Experience and Social Science Designation Requirements).

SOC 3100: Gerontology (Meets Liberal Studies Experience and Social Science Designation Requirements).

SOC 3710: Sociology of Appalachian Communities (Meets Integrative Learning Experience Theme, "Appalachian Mountains" and Social Science Designation Requirements).

SOC 3800: Sociology of War (Meets Integrative Learning Experience Theme, "War and Peace" and Social Science Designation Requirements).
