The High Country (Region D) Area Agency on Aging has chosen Dr. Ed Rosenberg, ASU Gerontology director, to receive its 2015 Senior Tarheel of the Year Award.
The Senior Tarheel Legislature (STHL) was created by the General Assembly in 1993 to assess the needs of older North Carolinians, provide information to them, and advocate on their behalf. The STHL submits 3-5 priority issues to the General Assembly for each legislative session.
Region D represents Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes and Yancy counties. Each county has a Senior Tarheel delegate and alternate delegate. Rosenberg has represented Watauga County since 2010.
Rosenberg will receive his award at the High Country Council of Governments banquet September 4.
