The Department of Sociology is happy to welcome Amber Gregory, who will serve as a Lecturer for Appalachian State. Her teaching and research interests include, gender, race, immigration, and international education. She earned her M.A. from the University of South Florida where her thesis research explored the experiences of Muslim women international students. She also earned a M.A. from West Virginia University in French. She has worked extensively with international students in Tampa, FL and refugee resettlement in Charlotte, NC. She believes in putting Sociology into action by working with community populations that face multiple obstacles as they create new lives in new places. She is from Lancaster, PA. She has lived abroad in Mexico City and Grenoble .
