Dr. David Russell (russelldj@appstate.edu) currently serves as Interim Assistant Department Chair. Dr Russell manages course scheduling, supports students and faculty, and works with the Department Chair to guide the department toward its goals.
Dr. Robert Freeland (freelandre@appstate.edu) joined the faculty of Appalachian State University in 2022. Dr. Freeland advises all new majors, responds to general inquiries from students and faculty about advising, and updates curricular information

Dr. Joseph Jakubek (jakubekjt@appstate.edu) joined the faculty of Appalachian State in 2019 and serves as the Internship Coordinator. Dr. Jakubek assists students in finding internship opportunities, developing internship proposals, and registers students for the internship course.
Ms. Jennifer Coffey (coffeyjg1@appstate.edu) is the Office Manager for the Department of Sociology. She has worked at Appalachian State since 2011, and is responsible for processing forms and paperwork for department operations
