Addressing Conflict or Answering Questions

Part of professional preparation is teaching students how to appropriately address or resolve conflicts. This is commonly referred to as the “chain of command” or department reporting structure. In most circumstances, you should first address conflict with the specific person and try to come to a resolution. Students who experience challenges with faculty in their coursework are strongly encouraged to first reach out to the faculty member via email and/or meeting in person to attempt resolution. If the matter cannot be resolved with the faculty member, they should contact the Department Chair, Dr. Cameron Lippard. Students who have questions about coursework and requirements related to advising should first meet with their department faculty advisor (listed in Degree Works). If they still have questions or need additional assistance, they should reach out to the Undergraduate Programs Director, Dr. Amy Dellinger Page (pagead@appstate.edu).
